Bhutan Photo Tour

Join us in the fabled mountain kingdom of Bhutan as we traverse forested hills, verdant, rustic valleys and immerse ourselves in the culture, architecture, festivals and customs of a unique land. Bhutan is remarkable for its distinctive Buddhist roots, its passion for Gross National Happiness its pride in preserving the Bhutanese culture and environment and its careful, patient process of recently opening up to the modern world.

Our journey will venture into Central Bhutan in time for two vibrant festivals at which you will have the opportunity to capture remarkable images and a store of indelible memories.  On the way we will weave through pristine forests of blue pine, fir, juniper and rhododendron. There will be ample opportunities to photograph landscapes, waterfalls, wildlife, village life, spiritual practices, artisans, architecture, the candid and the choreographed.

Rather than bundling a group into a bus we provide late model SUVs with only two passengers per vehicle. Each vehicle will have a driver and either an expert English-speaking Bhutanese guide or one of your Australian professional photographer leaders. This provides personalised support, ample room for your luggage and ready access to your camera gear. You have the flexibility to stop when you wish and your guides can adjust your day’s itinerary to suit your particular interests. You also have the advantage of being part of a group when you meet up along the road, at lunch or at the end of the day to compare and share diverse experiences and photographs. Contact with our other vehicles is available at all times. Your vehicles can travel together, they can leapfrog each other through the day or can venture off alone to enjoy a sense of exploration. Allocations to vehicles will be rotated daily so each client will get the benefit of every guide’s expertise. If four clients wish to travel together in the same vehicle, an eight-seater minibus can be provided.

Fitness Level

All of our Photo Tours require at least a moderate level of fitness. There are usually no major walks but where possible we would like our guests to be able to walk for about an hour if needed. Except on this particular tour we have quite a rigorous walk to the Tigers Nest Temple at the end of  the tour. It is a real hight light and is best to do some regular exercise before we leave for Bhutan. Check with your tour guide before leaving and we can give you a better idea of any special fitness requirements you may need to complete a Tour.

Private Guided Tours

If groups are not for you and you would prefer to travel by yourself or with a group of friends and family then we can accommodate your needs by customizing a Photography Tour to suit your individual needs, schedule, budget and interests.

We also offer private one or two day photo tours and workshops in many of our locations. Please or email us for rates and information.
